Dufour and Liebert say they these stars might have evolved from a star like the unique, much hotter star called H+65 that Pennsylvania State University astronomer John A. Nousek, Liebert and. SDO Begins Rewriting The Book On Solar Physics. We believe that the simplest way to explain this is that a star like H+65, however it was formed, most probably still contains a tiny amount of helium which will eventually diffuse upward to form a thin layer. Kochab and magnitude 3 Gamma Ursae Minoris have been called the ""guardians of the pole star"". Planets have been detected orbiting four of the stars, including Kochab. The constellation also contains an isolated neutron star—Calvera—and H+65, the hottest white dwarf yet discovered with a surface temperature of , K.

H1504+65 book an extraordinarily hot compact star devoid of hydrogen and helium (SuDoc NAS ) Unknown Binding – January 1, by NASA (Author)Author: NASA. H+65 is an enigmatic peculiar star in the constellation Ursa Minor. With a surface temperature ofK (,°F) and an atmosphere composed of carbon, oxygen and 2% neon, it is the hottest white dwarf ever llation: Ursa Minor.

We speculate that iron was transformed into heavier elements. A soft X-ray Chandra spectrum of the unique H- and He-deficient star H+65 is analyzed.

We find high neon and magnesium abundances and confirm that H+65 is the bare core of either a C-O or a O-Ne-Mg white : K. Werner, J. Deetjen, S. Dreizler, T. Rauch, T. Rauch, M.

Barstow, J. Kruk. These stars, together with H+65, might accordingly form a new evolutionary sequence that follows the asymptotic giant branch. The book came alive as I related to the drugs, the wartime, the politics, Nixon, and quite interestingly, the Kennedy assassination.

I have ordered copies of the book on line and am sending them to friends as I am certain they will find the book just as wonderful to by: 2.

H+65 is an extremely hot hydrogen-deficient white dwarf with an effective temperature close toK. We present new FUV and soft X-ray spectra. Artists' concept of the surface of the white dwarf star H+65, believed to have somehow expelled all its hydrogen and all but a very small trace of its helium, leaving an essentially bare stellar nucleus with a surface of 50 percent oxygen and 50 percent carbon.

Fontaine, F. Wesemael. At least for one hot DQ, the high-gravity white dwarf SDSS J+, an evolutionary link between this star and the massive PG star.

This star, the hottest known white dwarf, H+65, seems to have been stripped of its entire outer regions during its death throes leaving behind the core that formed its power plant. H+65 is a unique PG star (Teff=, K, log g=8), being H and He-deficient; the He II Å emission is lacking. In figure 12 we show the location of all analysed PG stars in the Teff-log g diagram.

They span a wide range in temperature and gravity, and they represent stars in their hottest phase of post-AGB evolution. Fitting instead the very low S/N X-ray spectra of the supersoft X-ray sources RX J and QR And, which have about the same temperature as H+65, has not been successful so far.

These spectra however seem to have been produced in a WD atmosphere with very peculiar abundances, but the abundances must be very different from H+Cited by: 1.
